Do you need a financial advisor? Do you know the right questions to ask a financial advisor?
Ivey Baker will walk you through how a novice can approach financial planning like a pro.
She will discuss WHY you use an advisor,
WHAT these conversations should look like and HOW they should act.
Ivey Gaskin Baker, CFP®
Ivey willingly operates at a high level of stress, non-stop. She is the wife to a surgical resident physician at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. She is the mother to a (nearly) 2 year old boy and two large dogs. She owns her own fitness and health coaching business. She works alongside her father, uncle and team in their asset management and financial planning business. She is currently writing a book and is about chest deep and ready to be done with it! Among other things, she is deeply involved in the community through Wake Forest Center for Private Business and with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
As she writes her book, Ivey is in a deep state of self-discovery and understanding. She is uncovering that she is exactly where she needs to be and she has a lot to say.
You will hear a lot about the following five words in her discussion, as it relates to financial planning and her general approach to life and advisory relationships.
Ivey is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM and a health coach. She may wear different clothes during each of these jobs, but that is the only difference. The message is arguably the same and the work done accomplishes very similar goals.
Ivey serves the Gaskin Asset Management team as a Business Development Manager. Ivey is responsible for finding opportunities for the team to serve investors and families in the Greater Charlotte community and beyond. In this capacity, she meets with professionals, business owners, retirees and other investors in order to identify and clarify both short-term needs and long-term goals. She loves to meet people and hear their story. She believes that her job is to create a trusting environment, to listen and share accurate and practical information, to practice critical thinking and to serve as an accountability partner throughout the advisory relationship.
One of Ivey’s key initiatives is to make financial planning more accessible and attractive for her generation. Her experience in marketing, networking, public speaking and previous work managing client relationships makes her highly qualified for her role.
