As professional women, we are excited and pleased to offer this program to deserving women seeking to improve their lives and the lives of their children through advancing their education and preparing for a professional career.

Please consider your eligibility or the eligibility of someone you know (qualifying students may apply for more than one semester).


Eligibility

To be eligible, candidates must:

  • Be a Forsyth County resident.
  • Be a single working mother, at least 25 years of age, going back to school.
  • Be employed and working at least 20 hours per week.
  • Be enrolled in an accredited institution degree program offering an AA, BA or BS (or equivalent) degree.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 (cumulative).
  • Be able to attend and give an acceptance speech at the PWWS December luncheon on December 8, 2010 at 11:30 AM-1:00 PM. 

Selection Process

To be selected, the criteria that will be used include:

  • How successfully the applicant met all eligibility requirements.
  • The financial need established by the Financial Aid office of the school based on the applicant's FAFSA.
  • The applicant having a stated career direction or commitment.
  • The applicant's completed application packet, letter of reference and personal statement.

Application process

The following items must be included in each application packet for the applicant to be considered by the Scholarship Committee (only submit requested materials):

  • Completed application form.
  • Personal statement (minimum of 500 words).
  • Financial Need statement (one paragraph) from your Financial Aid Office addressing your financial need for this scholarship.
  • Copy of 2010-2011 FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR).
  • Current resume.
  • Official transcript(s) from college(s) attended.
  • Three sealed letters of recommendation. Either sent separately by recommending party or included in your packet, sealed and signed across the seal.
    • Teacher or Professor.
    • Current employer, showing the employee is aware of, and supports your education plans.
    • Personal recommendation from friend, family member or co-worker who can address your motivation to attend college and your ability to succeed.

Write your name on the upper right hand corner of every page submitted.

Applications must be received by October 15, 2010 to be considered. Please note this is not a postmark date!
